United na Inter waanza maongezi kumpata Lukaku
Manchester United are in fresh talks with Inter Milan over the sale of Romelu Lukaku - and have reopened negotiations over a late deal for Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic.
Lukaku’s agent Federico Pastorello is in London in a bid to secure his client’s departure after relations between the striker and Ole Gunnar Solskjær hit rock bottom.
Lukaku will be fined for going AWOL this week - just days after being rebuked by his manager for revealing confidential training data on his personal social media channel.
His position at United is now believed to be untenable after he trained at Anderlecht while his teammates reported for duty at the club’s Carrington base. A move is now seen as the best solution for all parties.
Inter had a £54m bid rejected in July, with United demanding a minimum £75m for the Belgium international.
Lukaku is desperate to leave after being told he will be used as back up by Solskjær this season - and has renewed hope Inter will come up with a suitable offer.
While the Premier League transfer window closes at 5pm on Thursday, there is no pressure to get a deal done before then, with the Italian deadline not until September.
Solskjær is prepared to enter the season without signing a replacement for Lukaku, but would ideally like to strengthen his attack.
United pulled out of talks with Paulo Dybala after balking at his wage demands and the associated agent fees. The collapse of that deal also saw talks with Dybala’s Juve teammate Mandzukic stall. But negotiations with the veteran Croatia international have resumed.
